In September 1969, Klein appeared on the cover of Vogue magazine.
In 1973, the year he won the first three consecutive Coty awards, Calvin Klein emerged as a top designer who had his finger on the pulse of American women. Although Klein designed dresses, like his 1973 strapless tube of black matte jersey, most of his evening looks reamined fairly casual.
